Vinegar — The Trusted Foundation
We start with high-strength cleaning vinegar, the same pantry staple Nana relied on for generations.
Household vinegar contains acetic acid, a natural compound that creates an acidic environment most mould species struggle to tolerate. Research shows that acetic acid can inhibit the growth of common indoor moulds such as Penicillium. It works by disrupting the pH balance mould needs to thrive and helps break down the mineral deposits and soap scum that mould loves to grow on.
When you dilute our concentrate as directed, you create a ready-to-use solution of approximately 4.95% acetic acid — strong enough to be effective, yet gentle enough for regular use in the home.
Clove — The Heavy Hitter

Clove essential oil is rich in eugenol, a powerful natural compound with well-documented antifungal properties. Laboratory studies have shown that eugenol damages fungal cell membranes and interferes with the production of ergosterol (a key component of fungal cells). This makes clove oil particularly effective against a wide range of moulds, including species of Aspergillus and Penicillium. In simple terms: clove oil doesn’t just clean the surface — it helps disrupt the mould at a cellular level. |

Our Nature-based Supporting Cast
While vinegar and clove oil are the heavy hitters, we support them with other essential oils, each designed to synergistically complement the recipe, with invigorating scents and antifungal support.
To bring it all together we use commercial grade, plant-based emulsifiers and surfactants. These help the oils mix evenly with the vinegar, ensuring every spray is consistent and effective — no separation, no wasted power.
The result is a simple, plant-based formula that is strong on everyday mould prevention and light-to-moderate build-up — without harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, or unnecessary complexity.
